The democratic opposition coalition pole has condemned what it called the repression and violent security intervention against university students during their protests for their rights, calling for an end to restrictions on public freedoms and respect for students' right to protest peacefully and express their views.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, a copy of which was received by Madar, the pole said that meeting protests with force would only deepen tensions, and called for serious and responsible dialogue with student representatives and for their legitimate demands to be met, away from a security approach.

The statement expressed solidarity with the affected students, saying the country's stability rests on respect for the law, the protection of freedoms and justice, not on repression.
