Madar (Nouakchott) - Mauritania's Minister of Digital Transformation and Administrative Modernisation on Friday, October 30, 2026, launched in Nema the phase-two consultations of the emergency programme to expand access to essential local-development services in Hodh Ech Chargui, the Mauritanian News Agency reported.

The minister said proposals from department representatives should feed directly into identifying and ranking priorities, after preparatory sessions reviewed phase one, while the mayor of Nema asked for citizens' requests to be programmed directly.

In Zouerate, the land affairs minister launched consultations in Tiris Zemmour, saying they aim to assess phase one and hear citizens again "so that their needs can be included in phase two, whose implementation will start early next year".

In Akjoujt, the public service and labour minister toured phase-one sites, including the regional hospital at an advanced stage of construction, the health centre, a primary school in Lembeitih and the desalination water tank, after regional authorities reported 65% completion.

The consultations are part of ministerial missions to eleven regions launched by Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djay to deliver on the president's 2024 campaign pledges.
