Madar (Dakar) - The suspect in the killing of Astou Pierre Ndiaye, a young Senegalese woman attacked with acid in June, was arrested in Mauritania on Friday, October 30, 2026, after months on the run, thanks to police cooperation between Senegal and Mauritania, Senegalese daily Liberation reported.
According to the paper, he was located by Interpol's National Central Bureau, attached to Senegal's judicial police directorate, following a request for assistance from the Dieuppeul police station in Dakar, before its Mauritanian counterpart informed it of the arrest.
Senegalese authorities are preparing to repatriate the suspect, the victim's former partner, so that he can answer before Senegalese courts.
