Madar (Dakar) - The finance and budget control committee of Senegal's National Assembly has rejected the 2026 amended finance bill, as MPs and the government remain at odds over budget choices and the state's financial priorities, the Senego website reported on Friday, October 23, 2026, citing I2N and Senegal7.
On Wednesday, October 21, the government had obtained a postponement of the plenary session on the bill to the following week, with the economy and finance ministry due to send additional documents and justifications to the committee before talks resumed.
Pastef leader Ousmane Sonko said on Monday, October 19 that his party would not vote for the bill without a framework for political funds.
The sources did not give the committee vote count, and the Assembly has not yet issued an official statement on its decision.
