Madar (N'Djamena) - Dengue has killed 11 people in Chad, with 299 confirmed cases out of 3,846 suspected cases, according to figures presented on Thursday, 22 October 2026 at an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by Prime Minister Allah Maye Halina, news site Tchadinfos reported.

The suspected cases were recorded in six provinces: Ennedi Ouest, Batha, N'Djamena, Ouaddai, Sila and Wadi-Fira, the site said. Public Health and Prevention Minister Dr Abdelmadjid Abderahim briefed the meeting on how the disease is transmitted, the trend in cases and the areas affected.

The meeting brought together officials from the health, national education, higher education, social action, environment, territorial administration, land planning and communication departments, as well as the mayor of N'Djamena.

The prime minister asked all those involved to coordinate a joint response, stressing prevention, public information and sanitation, and called for stepped-up ground and aerial spraying to curb the spread of the disease.

Health authorities had earlier reported 8 deaths and 250 confirmed cases of dengue.
