Mauritania's minister of fisheries and maritime and port infrastructure, Aissata Lam, stressed the need to direct the sector's work towards practical results that improve citizens' lives and serve their interests.
In remarks to the press on Sunday, the minister said her tour of Nouadhibou had been an opportunity to review the performance of institutions under her ministry, follow projects under way and look at future work.
She praised the role of some 800 women working in processing and adding value to fish products, stressing the importance of supporting their efforts and their activities.
