Madar (Bamako) - Mali's government has set up a reception system for foreign nationals of various countries who crossed the border from Guinea heading for the Bamako district, following "strict measures" by Guinean authorities to end clandestine and illegal gold mining on their territory, Alwihda Info reported.
An emergency meeting was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, chaired by its secretary-general, and the Crisis Coordination and Management Centre (CECOGEC) was tasked with coordinating a "methodical, humane and secure" management of the influx.
According to the same source, the foreign nationals who crossed the border are being received "with dignity," with arrangements to ensure decent reception conditions, while a plan organises their orderly transfer to their countries of origin.
Authorities called on the public, particularly residents of border areas, to remain calm and show civic-mindedness, and to cooperate fully with the armed and security forces. The source did not say how many people were involved, their nationalities or the crossing points.
