Madar (Nouakchott) - Nouakchott Region president Fatimetou Abdel Malick and Barcelona mayor Jaume Collboni signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, to strengthen cooperation and partnership between the two sides, the Mauritanian News Agency reported.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the Smart City Expo World Congress 2026, held in Barcelona from November 2 to 5.
The memorandum aims to develop cooperation in several development areas, such as training and employment, as well as the exchange of experience and expertise on issues of common interest.
The agency described it as a new step in relations between Nouakchott and Barcelona that will support the region's sustainable development and residents' living conditions, without giving details of specific projects or a timetable.
