Madar (N'Djamena) - Chad's national consumption of petroleum products fell overall in September 2026 compared with August, with the notable exception of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which rose by 13.9%, according to the monthly report of the downstream petroleum regulator ARSAT, relayed by Tchadinfos on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.

Total diesel consumption dropped by 19.5%, from 33.1 million litres in August to 27.7 million litres in September. Petrol fell by 6.8% to 29.9 million litres and heavy fuel oil by 70.9%.

LPG consumption reached 10.95 million kilograms, driven by higher imports (+24%) and sustained demand for gas cylinders. Six-kilogram cylinders account for 96.9% of the market.

Off-take from the Djarmaya refinery (NRC) fell across the board: diesel was down 42% to 14.4 million litres and petrol down 4% to 22.6 million litres.

Diesel imports rose 5% to 13.3 million litres and LPG imports 24% to 7.3 million kilograms, while petrol imports fell 15% to 7.3 million litres. The main import corridors remain Cameroon, from Douala and Limbe, as well as Nigeria and Niger.
