Madar (Nouakchott) - The governor (wali) of Guidimakha, Dahmane Ould Beyrouk, chaired a meeting of the regional development committee in Selibaby on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, to draw up a plan for distributing large quantities of seeds and farm machinery to farmers in the region, according to the Mauritanian News Agency (AMI).

The governor said the talks reviewed the situation on the ground in order to set each moughataa's share precisely, and covered other farming issues, including the fight against crop-eating birds led by the regional agriculture delegation.

He said the discussion on seeds, machinery and units examined every aspect of the matter and ended in agreement on the distribution criteria, based on the available data. AMI's French service said the distribution targets farming cooperatives.

The meeting was attended by the vice-president of the Guidimakha regional council, the deputy prefect (hakem) of Selibaby, the mayor of Selibaby and members of the regional development committee.
