Madar (Nouakchott) - The National Gendarmerie company in Nouadhibou said it foiled an attempt at irregular migration to Europe at dawn on Thursday, through its maritime brigade at the Nouadhibou autonomous port.
In a post on its official page, the gendarmerie said the attempt was being planned by a group of sailors using a boat belonging to an employee of the fleet of the "Sonris" company.
It added that foiling the attempt is part of the National Gendarmerie's efforts to combat irregular migration and counter attempts at illegal crossings to Europe.
