Madar (Nouakchott) - Phase one of the emergency programme for access to essential services stands at 54% completion in Guidimakha, with work ongoing on 42% of projects and not started on 4%, according to a review presented on Friday evening, October 30, 2026, in Selibaby, the Mauritanian News Agency reported.
The delegate minister for decentralisation said the region received 215 interventions in phase one, of which 115 are completed, 91 are under way and 9 have yet to start.
The phase-two consultations in the region thus ended after covering its four districts, Ould Yenge, Mbout, Ghabou and Selibaby, with local elected officials and civil society.
The minister said the mission identified shortcomings to avoid repeating them and agreed with elected officials on phase-two priorities ranked by residents' needs, to be submitted to the relevant government sectors for adoption.
The Guidimakha review is part of regional consultations that revealed uneven phase-one completion.
