Madar (Tripoli) - Libya's Petroleum Facilities Guard on Sunday, November 1, 2026, voiced its "total and categorical" rejection of any attempt to stop work at oil facilities, halt oil and gas pipeline supplies or attack them, in response to the closure of the Riyayna valve, the Libyan state news agency LANA reported.

In a statement, the Guard said protesters had closed the Riyayna valve, located below the mountain and linked to the Tahara field, describing it as "an act of sabotage against the public interest of the state".

The closure stopped pumping from the valve, which will have a "direct impact" on the national economy, the statement said, adding that the Guard would not allow anyone to touch the resources of the Libyan people.

The Guard holds legally responsible anyone who caused the closure of oil facilities, "which belong to all Libyans", the agency said.

The statement, as published by LANA, did not identify the protesters or their demands, or say how much output was affected by the halt in pumping.
