Madar (N'Djamena) - Chad's President, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, received in N'Djamena Algeria's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, who visited Chad as special envoy of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the official APS agency reported.

After the audience, Attaf said he had handed the Chadian president a written letter from Tebboune and reviewed the state of Algerian-Chadian relations, adding that "our joint assessment is that these relations are in very good shape". The content of the letter was not disclosed.

The minister referred to the two recent meetings between the heads of state, in particular the second, which included a joint commission session that sealed "a set of 27 agreements". Their implementation "is going very well" and "is still moving in the right direction", he said.

The audience was also an opportunity to discuss "the Sahel-Saharan region, where we share the same stakes and the same development, security and stability challenges", Attaf said, adding that Chadians and Algerians are working "in the same direction" to help the region mobilise its potential.

During the visit, Attaf also held talks with his Chadian counterpart, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Abroad Ahmed Kogri. The two reviewed bilateral cooperation and welcomed progress in implementing commitments agreed by the two presidents, according to an Algerian foreign ministry statement.

They agreed to build on this momentum through an in-depth evaluation of all areas of cooperation and careful preparation of upcoming bilateral meetings, and pledged regular consultation and joint efforts to remove obstacles to agreed projects, which the statement did not specify.
