The World Health Organization said it is continuing to monitor 52 people who were in contact with Ebola cases in Nigeria, while Kenyan authorities ended quarantine for 20 people after 21 days without symptoms, with 98 others still under health monitoring.
The WHO said Nigeria currently has no confirmed cases of Bundibugyo virus, one of the Ebola viruses, after the first imported case was evacuated to Switzerland following an improvement in the patient's condition.
The organization said the end of the outbreak in Nigeria could be declared by December 7 if no new cases are recorded and health criteria are met, stressing the importance of early detection and contact tracing to curb the spread.
