Madar (Bamako) - Malian authorities had recorded, as of Saturday, 7 November 2026, about 100,000 people expelled from Guinea in Bamako district and nearly 60,000 in the border town of Kouremale, where six deaths were registered, according to a statement by the crisis coordination and management centre (CECOGEC) reported by the Anadolu news agency.

The statement also reported injuries, said 413 people had been treated in health facilities in Bamako district and that an emergency reception site had been set up at Ouinzinbougou. CECOGEC urged regional authorities to maintain "maximum mobilisation and vigilance" for the reception, registration, assistance and return of those concerned.

According to the same source, Mali deployed 74 trucks and 24 buses on 6 November to carry about 15,000 people to Burkina Faso, then 60 trucks and 10 buses on 7 November, alongside 48 coaches provided by Burkina Faso, after 47 Burkinabe buses and two Malian buses brought back about 3,430 people on 5 November. The Malian government offered its condolences to the victims' families.

Guinea, for its part, announced in a joint statement by its defence and security ministries dated 7 November the arrest of 1,263 people of Guinean, Burkinabe, Malian, Togolese, Nigerien, Ivorian and Ghanaian nationality, described as "recalcitrant", in operations against anarchic and illegal gold mining in Siguiri. They were taken to Conakry for judicial proceedings and will be treated "with respect for their dignity and rights", the statement said.

Operations are also continuing in Mandiana, Kerouane and Kouroussa, Conakry said. Two days earlier, Mali had reported more than 40,000 people registered in Kouremale, in a regional crisis triggered by the ban on anarchic gold mining in Siguiri.
