Madar (Ouagadougou) - The Kadiogo Regional Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CORESUR) held an emergency meeting in Ouagadougou on Friday, 6 November 2026, chaired by regional governor Abdoulaye Bassinga, to organise the reception of Burkinabe nationals expelled from Guinea, most of them artisanal gold miners, according to Lefaso.net.

According to the site, 3,533 people had been registered by 5 November at Koloko and Bobo-Dioulasso: 2,428 men, 209 women and 896 children. The figures could change as arrivals continue, with many returnees still on Malian territory.

Bobo-Dioulasso is the main entry and first reception point, where arrivals are directed according to their region of origin or destination, while Ouagadougou also serves as a reception and transit site. Two buses had reached Bobo-Dioulasso and some 50 more vehicles were expected by early Saturday, 7 November; authorities expect around 4,000 people to arrive in the city in the coming hours.

The National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR) sent some 20 staff to the field to assess needs, the same source said.

Reception tasks are split among committees: reception and accommodation, including identity checks and security, handled by the regional directorates of the ministries in charge of solidarity and security; health, including psychosocial support, led by the regional health directorate with the Red Cross; and water and sanitation, providing drinking water, toilets and hand-washing points.

Madar reported on 4 November the arrival of more than 8,000 people expelled from Guinea at Kouremale and hundreds of gold miners at Yanfolila in Mali, following the Guinean authorities' crackdown on mining sites in the Siguiri area.
