Madar (Tunis) - Prices of some portioned cheeses and vegetable oils will fall in Tunisia from the weekend of October 31 and November 1, 2026, by up to 1,800 millimes for cheese and 7 dinars for the oils concerned, the director of the National Observatory of Supply and Prices (ONAP), Ramzi Trabelsi, announced on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
Speaking on Mosaique FM, in remarks reported by news site Webdo, Trabelsi said the cuts cover in particular boxes of 8 and 16 cheese portions, by 800 to 1,800 millimes, and some vegetable oils packaged in 1.8 to 5 litre containers, by 3.7 to 7 dinars.
Corn and sunflower oils are not included, the official said, without giving the brands or the new prices. The reductions will apply first in supermarkets before being extended to other outlets in the formal retail network, with no details on how long the operation will last or when it will be generalised.
Trabelsi also announced that additional quantities of imported rice will be put on the market in the coming days to meet strong demand. Asked about rising shrimp prices, he said these products are not subject to prices set by the Commerce Ministry and follow supply and demand, adding that they remain below their usual levels.
