Madar (Tunis) - The permanent military court of Tunis has sentenced Olfa Hamdi, president of the Third Republic party, to four years in prison and a total of 80,000 dinars in fines in two cases, her lawyer Akram Moussa said, according to Tunisian news site Webdo on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
In a statement to the media, the lawyer said the court handed down two separate two-year prison sentences, each with a 40,000-dinar fine. The charges include conspiracy against state security and offences falling under military justice, the outlet reported.
Moussa added that Hamdi is already serving a two-year prison sentence handed down in March in another, similar case, and that the new sentences come on top of it.
Hamdi was detained in February 2026 on arrival at Tunis-Carthage airport under a search notice. In June, the indictment chamber of the Tunis Court of Appeal rejected her request for release and referred her to the criminal chamber of the permanent military court, Tunisian media reported at the time.
The source did not give the date of the hearing, and neither the court nor Hamdi has commented on the rulings.
