Madar (Tunis) - Tunisia's draft state budget for 2027 plans debt service of 21.275 billion dinars, compared with 22.982 billion expected in 2026, a decrease of 7.4%, according to data from the draft finance law reported on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, by news site Webdo.
The amount includes 13.307 billion dinars in repayments of public debt principal, of which 6.823 billion for domestic debt and 6.484 billion for external debt, as well as 7.968 billion dinars in interest.
According to the same source, the overall decrease of 1.707 billion dinars does not mean all components of the debt are falling, as available data show interest rising compared with the initial forecasts of the 2026 finance law.
Repayments scheduled for 2027 include maturities owed to international financial markets, the International Monetary Fund, Afreximbank, the European Union and Saudi Arabia. The figures remain those of the draft budget, which is still subject to review and adoption.
