Madar (Rabat) - Fuel prices in Morocco have shown "significant" gaps between distributors since midnight on Saturday into Sunday, November 1, 2026, as a new system of periodic price updates took effect, according to a source from the national federation of service-station owners and managers quoted by Hespress.
According to the source, stations of one of the largest fuel distributors were due to raise diesel by 50 centimes a litre, while another operator's stations opted for an increase of about one dirham, based on information available on Saturday evening.
Premium petrol was due to fall by varying amounts, by 50 centimes a litre at some operators and about 25 centimes at others, differences the source described as "understandable and natural" given competition.
The source said, however, that the gap in diesel increases between distributors, of up to half a dirham, had caused "wide surprise" among professionals, as the market had never seen such a gap, and many were asking whether it was a technical pricing error and expected a correction early in the week.
The changes follow a gradual, cumulative rise in fuel prices since mid-summer that has pushed diesel to record levels, while the government continues exceptional aid to transport professionals and says national energy reserves are secure. Brent futures closed at the end of October at $117.64 a barrel, the same source said.
