Madar (Nouakchott) - The Party of the Renaissance of the Democratic Movement (RMD-Tahaddi) has reaffirmed its rejection of calls to grant President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani a third presidential term, stressing the need for reform and change.
The party stated its position at a consultative meeting held on Sunday evening by its Nouakchott-South regional coordination at the party headquarters in Arafat district, chaired by party leader Yacoub Ould Ahmed Lemrabott.
Ould Ahmed Lemrabott said the meeting aimed to hear the concerns and expectations of party activists and to discuss ways to improve the party's organisation and strengthen its presence on the ground in the region.
The party leader criticised the performance of President Ghazouani's government and reaffirmed his party's opposition to calls for a third term.
Participants discussed the state of party work and ways to activate its structures, stressing the importance of continued consultation and coordination and of turning the meeting's conclusions into practical steps.
