Madar (Nouakchott) - The ruling majority coalition announced on Friday its representatives on the supervision committee for the planned political dialogue, a step it said was intended to complete the committee's formation within the set deadline.
The coalition chose El Insaf party leader Mohamed Ould Bilal as the committee's vice-chair, along with seven other members, based on criteria it said reflect the parties' electoral weight, using the number of their members of the National Assembly as the basis for selection and the number of their municipal councillors as a tie-breaker.
The coalition said the criteria were meant to ensure clear grounds for representation and equal opportunities among the majority's components.
The Front for Citizenship and Justice had announced it was freezing its ties with the presidential majority coalition in protest at what it called El Insaf's unilateral decision on naming the majority's representatives to the supervision committee for the planned national dialogue.
