Mauritania's Ministry of Health is completing arrangements to open new health centres in Nouakchott, by supplying medicines and medical consumables, stepping up field inspections and improving the skills of health staff.

The health minister held a meeting with the officials concerned to review preparations, at which it was decided to follow the equipping work daily and to evaluate the supply system three months after it starts operating.

The ministry also announced a training course for health staff, combining theory and field practice, to ensure the new centres are ready and the conditions are in place for their services to begin.
