Mauritania's Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Traditional Education has called on imams and preachers to devote their Friday sermons on October 16, 2026, corresponding to 4 Jumada al-Ula 1448, to a common theme: 'Cleanliness in Islam: faith, conduct and responsibility'.
The ministry asked them to keep to the topic and explain its importance in light of the Quran and Sunnah. The aim is to raise awareness of cleanliness as a value rooted in faith and a form of responsible conduct in individual and community life.
President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani had called for a nationwide effort to promote cleanliness, protect the environment and improve the appearance of towns and cities during a visit to Benichab on September 26.
