Madar (Algiers) - France has asked Algeria to increase oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies as soon as possible amid turmoil in global energy markets, according to informed sources cited by the specialist platform Attaqa.
The sources said the move is part of Paris's efforts to secure additional volumes from alternative suppliers, as President Emmanuel Macron works to strengthen cooperation with Gulf countries and other suppliers.
They added that Algeria currently has the capacity to raise oil shipments, while Sonatrach's contractual commitments to other customers could limit additional LNG volumes in the short term.
