Madar (Algiers) - Algeria's central service against organised crime has dismantled a criminal network operating nationwide that specialised in counterfeiting, use of forged documents, tax fraud and money laundering, and arrested 25 of its members, according to a statement by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) issued on Thursday, October 29, 2026, and reported by news site TSA.

According to the statement, in-depth investigations into the network's financial transactions, carried out under the supervision of the competent prosecutor, showed that its members used more than 400 fictitious trade registers in fraudulent transactions to move large sums of money outside legal channels. The network operated in several provinces.

The loss to the public Treasury is estimated at more than 9,200 billion centimes, or about 92 billion dinars, while 23 billion centimes, or 230 million dinars, in proceeds from these activities were recovered.

Trucks, passenger vehicles of various types, stamps and administrative documents were also seized. The 25 people arrested were brought before the prosecutor of the national economic and financial criminal pole, the same source said.
