Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said on Saturday that the decision to send Algerian army units to Niger is aimed at protecting the country's vital interests and strengthening its national security, through a proactive approach to the security challenges and threats facing the region.
In a message marking the 72nd anniversary of the start of Algeria's war of liberation, he said the decision rests on a constitutional basis and institutional consensus and comes within the framework of cooperation with Niger, helping to preserve regional stability and security.
