Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said the anniversary of the outbreak of the November 1, 1954 Revolution is a national occasion to recall the sacrifices of the martyrs and mujahideen and to renew commitment to the Revolution's message and its principles of patriotism, sovereignty and unity.

In a message marking the 72nd anniversary of the outbreak of the liberation revolution, Tebboune said the Algerian people proudly remember what they endured under more than 130 years of settler colonialism and the violations it inflicted on the land, history and national identity.

He said Algerian resistance continued across the country until it culminated in the November 1, 1954 Revolution, a historic turning point in the struggle to restore national sovereignty, adding that Algeria will remain a fortress of patriotism thanks to the unity of its people and institutions.

Referring to current challenges, Tebboune stressed the need to be aware of what protecting the country's higher interests requires, saying that the constitutional authorisation and institutional consensus within the framework of cooperation with a brotherly neighbouring country serve Algeria's vital interests and reflect the proactive dimension of its national security strategy in the face of the current situation in the region.

He also said preserving stability is a key pillar for harnessing the resources and potential of the new Algeria, within its sovereign political decision inspired by the spirit of November 1.
