Madar (Nouakchott) - Mauritania's under-20 team drew 2-2 with Sierra Leone on Monday, 19 October 2026 at the Mamadou Konate stadium in Bamako, in the second round of Group B of the West African Football Union Zone A (WAFU-A) tournament, Senegalese website Seneweb reported.

Sierra Leone took the lead in the 13th minute through Papay Mansaray before Imam Dine Sow, who also scored Mauritania's goal in their opening defeat to Senegal, equalised in the 43rd minute.

After the break, El Hafidh El Eleyadh missed a penalty in the 79th minute but made amends two minutes later to put Mauritania ahead (81st). Sierra Leone, however, levelled in the 87th minute.

Mauritania have now played both their group games, in a group reduced to three teams after Guinea-Bissau withdrew, and have one point after their 2-1 loss to Senegal. Sierra Leone still have to play Senegal, who according to Seneweb are already assured of a semi-final place.

The tournament in the Malian capital sends two teams to the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
