Madar (International) - Belgian authorities have searched the homes of several relatives and associates of Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi as part of an investigation into suspected money laundering linked to mining revenues, according to The Brussels Times.

The investigation targets nine Belgian nationals with family ties to the president or his inner circle, suspected of misappropriating revenues from mines in the Haut-Katanga and Lualaba provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The raids followed a complaint by non-governmental organisations from Katanga province accusing Belgian nationals of seizing mineral resources and laundering money suspected to come from embezzled mining revenues.
