Madar (Bamako) - Mali's army said on Monday it had carried out air strikes on October 24 and 25 against gatherings of fighters it described as terrorists in the Koulikoro and Mopti regions, according to a statement from the armed forces general staff.

The first strike targeted a site holding motorcycles and logistical equipment, about two kilometres south-west of a village in the Koulikoro region, the statement said.

The army also carried out two strikes on two gatherings in a sector of the Mopti region, one of them about four kilometres south of a village.

The army said it was continuing surveillance and reconnaissance to assess the results of the strikes before releasing a final toll, without giving any figures for deaths or injuries.
