Madar (International) - Qatar Gas Transport Company said its liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Al Mayeda was hit by "unidentified objects" while sailing in the Gulf on Friday evening, according to a company statement issued on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Al Jazeera English reported.

None of the crew members was injured and no environmental damage was reported, the company said in the statement, published by the Qatar Stock Exchange. The vessel is in a "safe condition, operational" and the impact of the incident is being assessed, it added.

Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its "strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack" in a statement on X, describing it as "a dangerous act that threatens the safety of maritime navigation and the security of global energy supplies" and warning of the regional repercussions of such "reckless and irresponsible practices".

The ministry said investigations were under way to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible, adding that Qatar "reserves its right to take all necessary measures" to protect its property and interests. Neither statement named those behind the attack or gave its exact location.

Qatar Gas Transport Company provides towage and marine support services to Qatari ports and terminals. The incident is the latest attack on commercial shipping since the US-Israel war on Iran began in February, with more than 120 commercial ships hit since then, according to data from the International Maritime Organization and UK Maritime Trade Operations.

Iran, which closed the Strait of Hormuz early in the war, has repeatedly warned that vessels attempting to pass without its permission would face "destruction". Attacks have increased since the United States reimposed a blockade on Iran's southern ports in July. October was the worst month of the war, with at least 29 ships hit, ahead of the 20 attacks recorded in March.
