Madar (Nouakchott) - Trade and Tourism Minister Zeinebou Mint Ahmednah said President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani remains the most capable choice to lead the country, given what she described as a lack of alternatives offering more convincing economic projects and visions.

In a Facebook post, the minister said managing the current phase requires experience in running the state and the ability to face economic and security challenges, arguing that the similarity of programmes and weak differentiation between visions raise questions about the readiness of political alternatives.

She defended Ghazouani remaining in power for a third term, calling it a "national necessity", while stressing that it should come about through respect for the Constitution and institutions, in line with a free popular will and a clear legal process.
