Madar (Nouakchott) - Mauritania's Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education left Nouakchott at dawn on Friday 6 November 2026 for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to take part in the sixth Hajj Conference and Exhibition, held this year under the slogan "From Makkah to the World", the Mauritanian News Agency (AMI) reported.
According to the agency, the conference is part of early preparations for the 1448 AH Hajj season. It brings together pilgrims' affairs offices, service providers and other stakeholders to complete the procedures and arrangements needed for the coming season, review the services and solutions on offer, and discuss ways to improve readiness and the services provided to pilgrims.
The programme includes specialised training workshops for Hajj affairs offices from around the world, aimed at improving their performance and strengthening their organisational and management capacity.
The minister is accompanied by the director of Hajj and Umrah and several officials from the sector who are taking part in the training workshops, the agency said.
