Insaf party president Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud held a consultative meeting on Sunday evening with party members from Mauritanian communities abroad, on the sidelines of a dinner the party organised in their honour, attended by the party's vice-presidents and several of its permanent secretaries.
According to the party, the meeting aims to strengthen communication between its leadership and members abroad, consult on political and national issues of common interest and discuss ways to develop the diaspora's political and organisational participation.
The party president praised the holding of the first forum of Mauritanian communities abroad, a government initiative that gave members of the diaspora a chance to voice their concerns and aspirations, and reviewed the main gains achieved for Mauritanians abroad since 2019.
The meeting also covered the guidelines announced by the President of the Republic at the forum, notably combating hate speech and extremism, strengthening national unity and rooting values of citizenship and fraternity, stressing the need to follow up on these guidelines and the forum's recommendations.
Ould Bilal also presented preparations for the expected national dialogue, its stages, the progress made and the main issues to be discussed, as well as its national objectives.
Participants also discussed the role of party members abroad in mobilising support and promoting its positions, strengthening coordination with its leadership bodies and drawing on the diaspora's expertise to support the party and national development.
