Madar (Nouakchott) - Mauritania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, strongly condemned the launch of ballistic missiles toward Saudi Arabia in a statement issued on the night of Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Al-Wiam news agency reported.
The ministry said Mauritania rejects "anything that threatens the security and stability of the Kingdom and the safety of its citizens and residents", expressing full solidarity with Saudi Arabia's leadership, government and people, and support for all legitimate measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
Mauritania also called for avoiding escalation and respecting the sovereignty of states in order to strengthen security and stability in the region, according to the statement.
The statement did not say who launched the missiles or when. Saudi civil defence said on Saturday that two ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis toward the Mecca and Medina regions had been intercepted.
