Madar (Tripoli) - The head of Libya's Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, on Saturday 7 November 2026 received in Tripoli Tunisia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, on the sidelines of his participation in the 22nd ministerial meeting of the Executive Council of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), according to a Tunisian foreign ministry statement carried by Tunisian media.
According to the statement, Dbeibah expressed his esteem for Tunisia, its leadership and its people, and reaffirmed his wish to strengthen cooperation and partnership between the two countries, voicing confidence in the positive outcome of upcoming bilateral meetings.
The Libyan prime minister also praised Tunisia's contribution to revitalising CEN-SAD, stressing the organisation's importance as a framework for coordination and consultation among its member states.
For his part, Nafti highlighted the fraternal and historical ties between Tunisia and Libya, recalling President Kais Saied's position in favour of a nationally owned solution to the Libyan crisis, with United Nations support, that preserves Libya's unity, security and resources.
The minister also reaffirmed, according to the same source, Tunisia's readiness to give fresh impetus to bilateral cooperation and extend it to strategic sectors such as energy, communication technologies and water resources, as well as strengthening the security of the shared border.
Mauritania took part in the same meeting with a delegation led by the secretary general of its foreign ministry, who called for reviving CEN-SAD's role.
