Madar (Khartoum) - Sudan's army and its allied Joint Force took control of Ayyal Bakhit in West Kordofan state on Saturday, November 7, 2026, after clashes with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), military sources told Anadolu Agency.
Ayyal Bakhit lies in the north-west of Al-Khuwei locality, near the border with North Kordofan and north of Al-Nuhud, the agency said, adding that soldiers released videos announcing the capture.
Earlier the same day, the army spokesperson said air defences had shot down a "hostile" FH-95 drone over the Ayyal Bakhit area, without saying who operated it, in a statement carried by the state news agency SUNA.
Fighting has intensified across the three Kordofan states since October 25. On Tuesday the army announced it had taken Umm Marahik, also in Al-Khuwei locality, and on Thursday it said it had seized four areas in North and South Kordofan, destroyed 40 RSF combat vehicles and captured 43 others, according to Anadolu.
The war between the army and the RSF began in April 2023 and has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions, according to UN estimates.
