Madar (Mbour) - Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has granted 30 scholarships to study in Morocco to the best pupils from high schools in Mbour department, in western Senegal, to allow them to continue their education abroad, a university official said on Monday, 19 October 2026, according to the Senegalese Press Agency (APS).

"The President of the Republic has granted scholarships to all the top pupils of the high schools of Mbour department so that they can continue their studies in Morocco," said Massamba Diouf, cooperation and partnership director at the Dakar university services centre (COUD), at the award ceremony in Ndiaganiao.

The scholarships go to pupils who did well in the baccalaureate, notably with honours, from schools including the Demba Diop, Thiadiaye, Nguekhokh and Ndiaganiao high schools. Some selected pupils withdrew after passing national competitive exams and could not be replaced, as the awards are made by name.

Diouf said the initiative reflects the head of state's wish to invest in training young people, adding that the president intends to extend it to the whole country.
