Senegal and Algeria signed fifteen agreements and memorandums in Algiers on Tuesday, October 13, according to Senegal's foreign ministry. They cover energy, mining, geology, investment, transport, air services, archives and higher education, updating the legal framework for cooperation.

The signing concluded the sixth joint commission, held on October 11-13 and co-chaired by foreign ministers Ahmed Attaf and Cheikh Niang. The Senegalese ministry described it as the first session in twenty-nine years. Niang had visited Algeria on July 25-26.

The joint statement published by Algeria's foreign ministry calls for ministerial contact points, regular follow-up meetings and the identification of priority projects and implementation timetables. The countries also agreed to seek wider trade and investment and strengthen their bilateral business council.
