Madar (Dakar) - Aïssata Tall Sall has been reappointed president of the opposition parliamentary group Takku Wallu Sénégal in the National Assembly, according to a message from the lawmaker carried on the evening of Saturday, October 17, 2026, by Seneweb, Senego and SeneNews.
"I wish to express my full gratitude to President Macky Sall for reappointing me as President of the Takku Wallu Sénégal Parliamentary Group," said the former justice and foreign minister, who said she was in Bangkok for the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
She assured Macky Sall and voters of her "firm determination to continue the work we have begun, as the people expect of us", stressing the need to act with "stature, seriousness and a sense of responsibility".
Tall Sall also thanked fellow lawmakers for their renewed confidence and urged all members of parliament to work rigorously and solely in the interest of the population.
The reappointment comes a day after Takku Wallu announced on Friday, October 16, that it was permanently withdrawing from all six parliamentary inquiry commissions, accusing the majority of turning hearings into a "media circus", as Madar reported. It also coincides with Macky Sall's withdrawal of his bid to become UN secretary-general, Senego noted.
