Madar (Gaya) - Niger's Minister of Economy and Finance, Mamane Laouali Abdou Rafa, on Friday, 6 November, made a working visit to the Gaya and Tougan Djado customs offices in the Dosso region, as part of monitoring the performance of revenue-collecting agencies and the mobilisation of public revenue, according to the Niger news agency ANP.

The minister was accompanied by the governor of the Dosso region, Colonel-Major Bana Alhassane, and the director general of customs, Colonel Mohamed Yacouba Siddo, along with administrative and technical officials and a customs delegation, the agency said.

The talks focused on assessing performance over the first ten months of 2026, identifying room for improvement before the end of the financial year, and presenting revenue-mobilisation targets ahead of the preparation of the 2027 budget.

The visit was "first of all an opportunity to make contact with customs officers and other services, to pass on the authorities' congratulations on the results achieved and to remind them of the guidelines set by the highest authorities", the minister said.

He stressed the strategic importance of the Gaya corridor, through which a large share of goods bound for Niger passes, making it a key link in mobilising domestic resources, according to ANP.
