Madar (Bamako) - Ten people were killed and seven others injured when a building under construction collapsed on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in the Tripanobougou neighbourhood of Dioila in southern Mali, the Malian news site Sahelien reported.

The collapse came shortly after work on the top-floor slab had been completed, according to witnesses quoted by the site. The victims included the site owner, a local marabout and his two children, as well as construction workers.

The regional governor said an inquiry had been opened to determine the cause of the collapse.

Such collapses of buildings under construction recur in Mali: the site recalled a similar disaster in Daoudabougou, Bamako, that killed six people and injured about twenty.
