Madar (Bamako) - The general staff of the Malian Armed Forces said on Saturday it had carried out airstrikes on two bases sheltering armed fighters in the Diafarabe and Menaka areas, without giving any toll of casualties or damage from the two operations.
In a statement, the general staff said the army, with the support of its partners, targeted "a major base sheltering many terrorist elements and war and logistics equipment" 40 kilometres north-east of Diafarabe, adding that the operation was based on "precise strategic intelligence" and that the strike hit its target.
The statement said the armed forces carried out another attack on a base 100 kilometres north-west of Menaka, which also sheltered fighters along with military and logistics equipment, saying the target was hit effectively.
