Madar (International) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, that US intelligence sharing on Russian missile attacks "works now" after talks in Oslo with President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, the BBC reported.
The meeting followed accusations by Kyiv that Washington was withholding key intelligence, a claim US Secretary of State Marco Rubio rejected as "scandalous". "Speaking about early warning, which is very important for our people, our children, adults, civilians, because we can hear when ballistic[s] is coming, so we are thankful to American side, now it works," Zelensky said.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who also took part, said "genuine progress" had been made on peace proposals but gave no details and urged patience. Zelensky and his European allies said it was now up to Russia to respond when Witkoff arrives in St Petersburg on Wednesday; a US official confirmed Witkoff will meet President Vladimir Putin, with Jared Kushner joining by video link.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the Kremlin would listen to what Witkoff offers while ruling out "any political concessions". Trump again told reporters at the White House that Kyiv should "make a deal", saying it was "time for Ukraine to end this war". Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store stressed that Europe "needs to be at the table".
Zelensky said "strong" security guarantees and energy ceasefire proposals were also discussed. Russian drone attacks killed at least 10 people on Tuesday, four of them in Kyiv and the capital region, four in the Donetsk region and two in Dnipro, Ukrainian officials said.
