Examinations to recruit teachers and senior teachers for training began in Nouakchott on Friday, 9 October 2026. A total of 10,404 candidates are competing in a recruitment and training programme covering 2,720 places for the Ministry of Education and Reform of the Education System.
The examinations cover Arabic-language, French-language and bilingual teaching streams. They are scheduled to continue until Sunday, 11 October, with candidates assigned morning or afternoon sessions according to their specialism.
The places comprise 1,000 senior-teacher positions and 1,000 teacher positions for baccalaureate holders who will undergo training at teacher-training colleges, alongside 720 places for direct recruitment and contracts involving categories of education service providers.
