The foundation stone for a training and rehabilitation complex for children with disabilities was laid on Wednesday, October 14, in Dar Naim, Nouakchott. The project is a partnership between Mauritania's Ministry of Social Action, Childhood and Family and Qatar Charity, according to the Mauritanian News Agency. The ministry's secretary-general, Hamoudi Cheikhna Ali, oversaw the ceremony.

Qatar Charity's director of development operations, Ibrahim Janahin, said the project aims to bring education, rehabilitation, training and care together in one setting, enabling children to develop their abilities and participate in community life.

At the ceremony, the ministry's secretary-general outlined its existing programmes for children with disabilities, including cash transfers, grants, sponsorship, transport, training and rehabilitation. He said these programmes aim to strengthen children's independence and social inclusion.
