A two-day workshop on linking climate policy with food-system transformation opened in Nouakchott on Tuesday, October 13. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Development is organising it with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and the United Nations, according to the Mauritanian news agency.

The agenda covers preliminary policy and stakeholder mapping, implementation of a convergence roadmap, institutional roles and investment opportunities. These are topics for discussion, not decisions or funding that have already been approved.

On November 19, 2025, the cabinet approved a draft decree establishing a framework to coordinate, plan and monitor the food-system transformation roadmap first adopted in 2021. The government statement said the proposed framework was intended to address implementation obstacles and coordinate the bodies working on food security.
