Mauritania's transport ministry pledges faster road repairs after crossing disruptions

Mauritania's Equipment and Transport Ministry has pledged to speed up repairs on the road network after disruptions at the Boudami and Guerou crossings caused by delayed intervention, particularly affecting lorries.

Minister Ely Ould El Veirik said on Tuesday, October 13, that the road maintenance agency was responsible for the delay. He stressed the need to repair potholes and other damage quickly and provide the equipment needed to keep traffic moving.

The ministry apologised to travellers for the disruption at Boudami and Guerou. It said such situations must not recur and held the road maintenance agency responsible for its late intervention.
